Alexandria Emmanuel Holiness Church began in Anniston, Alabama in November 1970 as Anniston Emmanuel Holiness Church. Bro. Vann Bollinger and wife Sis. Louise Bollinger founded the church. (Bro. Vann had previously pastored at Jacksonville Emmanuel Holiness church for 15 years). Sis. Louise picked the building on 22nd and Mckelroy. The place needed a lot of work done on it. After much hard work the church began in this neighborhood in downtown Anniston.
During the mid 1980s Bro. Vann left Anniston to pastor in Eufaula, Alabama. Bro. Norman Smith became pastor for several years. After Bro. Norman left we had several more pastors: Bro. Donnie Sanders, Bro. Chuck Bennett, and Bro. Jay Ezell. Bro. Vann and Sis. Louise returned from Eufaula after 5 years.
Downtown Anniston had become a dangerous neighborhood. Bro. Jay Ezell and Bro. Vann, along with members, decided to move church. In July 2001, a church and parsonage was bought in Alexandria, Alabama. The church was then changed to Alexandria Emmanuel Holiness Church. When Bro. Ezell left, Bro. Michael Brown was pastor in 2002. Bro. Jeff Mayo and Sis. April became the pastor in October 2003. Sis. Louise Bollinger passed away August 2001, and Bro. Vann passed away March 2007. Bro. Jeff pastored until August 2021. He went to pastor in Georgia. Bro. Tim Phillips became pastor on September 1, 2021.
Bro. Vann & Sis. Louise Bollinger
We believe there is but one living and true God, everlasting, of infinite power, wisdom and goodness; maker and preserver of all things, both visible and invisible. And in the unity of this Godhead, there are three persons of one substance, of eternal beings, and equal in holiness, justice, wisdom, power and dignity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.
We believe that the Son, who is the word of the Father, the very and eternal God, of one substance with the Father, took Man's nature in the womb of the blessed Virgin; so that two whole and perfect natures, that is to say, the God head and the Manhood, were joined together in one Person, never to be divided, whereof is one Christ, very God and perfect Man, who actually suffered, was crucified, dead and buried to reconcile us to the Father and to make atonement, not only for our actual guilt, but also for original sin.
We believe that Christ did truly rise again from the dead, and took again His body, with all things appertaining to the perfection of man's nature. And He ascended into heaven and there sitteth until He shall return to judge all men at the last day.
We believe the Holy Ghost, proceeding from the Father and the Son, is of one substance, majesty, and glory with the Father and the Son, Very and Eternal God.
We believe that eternal life with God in heaven is a portion of the reward of the finally righteous; and that everlasting banishment from the presence of the Lord, and an unending torture in hell, are the wages of the persistently wicked. (Matthew 25:46; Psalm 9:17; Revelation 21:7-8.)
