The Ladies Auxiliary of the Emmanuel Holiness Church Conference was organized in October of 1964. It was the desire of the ladies of the church to be a help and blessing in the work of the Lord so they united together and dedicated their lives to the service of the Lord at home, at church, and in the community. Red and White were chosen as the colors of the Ladies Auxiliary. Red to represent the shed blood of Jesus for the remission of sins and White to represent that His blood cleanses our soul as white as snow. Looking forward to the great work ahead, the motto “Ready for Sacrifice and Service was selected for the Ladies Auxiliary.
Today, our local Ladies Auxiliary embraces the same desire to be a blessing to and a help at home, in our church, and in our community. We have dedicated ourselves to always being prepared (Ready) to help in any area where there is a need. Realizing that the needs are great and time is swiftly passing, we are committed to “…being fervent in Spirit, serving the Lord.” Romans 12:11.
The Local LA provides:
1. Spiritual Life Development that enriches the LA woman and gives meaning to her service.
2. Personal Spiritual Development – Every LA member is challenged to sincerely commit herself to daily prayer and Bible reading. Realizing that prayer is the source of power, and that Bible study is essential for spiritual growth. The LA encourages every member to engage in consistent private devotions.
3. Family Life Spiritual Development - The LA leader reminds the member of her responsibility to do all that she can toward maintaining a Christian atmosphere in the home.
4. Stewardship - The LA teaches its members personal accountability to God. Her stewardship includes not only tithe, but also offerings, talents, and time.
5. Service Opportunities – That challenge the LA member to share in material contributions to her local church.
6. Local projects – Each LA is to complete at least one project during the year. Many of these projects include beautifying, improving, or adding to the church and parsonage property.
7. Church Ministries – Women have always taken an interest in the beauty of God’s house, and they have sought to make life more comfortable for His ministers. This innate desire to serve finds expression through cleaning, decorating, etc. Pastors and their family are recognized on birthdays, Christmas, and often given food poundings; evangelists needs are met.
8. United Prayer – Prayer is the very heart of all LA ministries. Prayer must be given first place if every phase of the LA service is to have spiritual meaning. The LA is called upon to pray regularly for the needs of the church, to share the burden of prayer with the pastor and church preceding and during revival services. LA women are asked to put aside other interests and give themselves to earnest prayer for revivals, mission work, as well as other events.
